Ayrshire Golf

Prestwick is the birthplace of "The Open"

Ayrshire is blessed with some of the best links courses in the world, from the current Open Championship courses at Turnberry Resort and Royal Troon Golf Club, to the prestigious Prestwick Golf Club - where the first 11 Opens were held starting in 1860. Just to the north lie Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club, Dundonald, Western Gailes Golf Club and Glasgow Gailes. Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club is a super little links course, and the area boasts a range of superb municipal facilities, many regarded as the best in Scotland.  In such a relatively small area Ayrshire provides 20 courses of the highest quality with spectacular scenery for all golfers to test their skills.
